Silent Witness
I looked it up
in the dictionary
the twin brother words
in my mind's eye
"Not making or accompany by any sound"
was the meaning of brother one
"Someone who has knowledge relevent to an event"
was the meaning of brother two
The silence was self inflicted
it protected the confusion within
The witness never came forward
it led to a crime unpunished and people heartbroken and unhinged
I placed the dictionary
back in it's cradle bookcase
I left the witness to remain silent
and the brothers ever more in wait till it may be too late
