Stick 122 - In the branches of the past

On the side of the river

Lay the smiles of ancestors
and some of their lives lived to the full

Lay the broken promises and dreams
and the boats they built to still cross their life streams

Lay the crisp white photos
and the evidence in the likeness of the links between us and them

Lay the intricate rice paper pages of the photo book
and the surprising melting pot of moments in time

Lay the broken ice white branches
and the laced fingers of the ancestors as they repair us and prop us up again
